In department 2 – Protection of Specific Crops – we focus on plant/ organism interactions, in which we change the characteristics of plants or find in the existing diversity plants that have the capacity to resist pests and diseases. To obtain new varieties of plants resistant to disease attack, we use genome editing technology.

Genome editing is a technology that allows changing the characteristics of plants through the production of mutations at specific locations in the genome, using molecular scissors directed by a biological RNA molecule (guide).
