On the 26th of August, InPP received the visit of the Minister of Foreign Action and Open Government of Catalonia, Victòria Alsina, and the delegate of the Government of Catalonia in Portugal, Rui Reis, who came accompanied by the Councilor of the Municipality of Elvas, Paula Calado.
The delegation was received by the department directors, David Learmonth, iLaria Marengo and Sandra Correia, who presented the InPP infrastructure, the laboratories, as well as the different research areas being explored by the five departments of the collaborative laboratory.
This visit aimed to create and establish new partnerships and collaborations with this autonomous community of Spain, a key international player for Portugal in its economic and scientific aspects, in which the agri-food industries have a great expression. Establishing partnerships is part of InPP’s philosophy and, therefore, this visit made it possible to explore the strengths of each one of the involved and to find synergy points, where it was intended to identify areas of interest for possible partnerships and collaborations.
During the visit to the InPP facilities, the delegation also had the opportunity to speak with some of the InPP researchers, who were able to personally explain some of the research currently being carried out at InPP in the fight against emerging plant pests and diseases.
