{"id":5800,"date":"2022-03-31T08:37:32","date_gmt":"2022-03-31T08:37:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iplantprotect.pt\/?p=5800"},"modified":"2025-05-08T13:41:07","modified_gmt":"2025-05-08T13:41:07","slug":"genetically-modified-plants-for-more-sustainable-agriculture","status":"publish","type":"eventos","link":"https:\/\/iplantprotect.pt\/en\/eventos\/plantas-geneticamente-modificadas-para-uma-agricultura-mais-sustentavel\/","title":{"rendered":"Genetically modified plants for more sustainable agriculture"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The executive director of InnovPlantProtect, Pedro Fevereiro, will take part in the next \u201cMED \u00e0s 4as\u201d (MED on Wednesdays), on April 6, a round table organized by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.uevora.pt\/pt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MED<\/a> - Mediterranean Institute for Agriculture, Environment and Development, on \u201cThe use of genetically modified plants for more sustainable agriculture\u201d.<br \/><br \/>The session will take place in person in the Conference Room of the Mitra Campus. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uevora.pt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">University of \u00c9vora<\/a>, between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m., but it is also possible to attend <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3uGzUGO\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">via Zoom<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The use of genetically modified varieties is a possible solution for achieving the strategic objectives of the <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/strategy\/priorities-2019-2024\/european-green-deal_pt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">European Green Deal<\/a>, as part of the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.consilium.europa.eu\/pt\/policies\/from-farm-to-fork\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">From Plate to Plate<\/a>\u201d and <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/environment\/strategy\/biodiversity-strategy-2030_pt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Biodiversity Strategy for 2030<\/a>. However, it is still limited and remains under European legislation that does not take into account the new genomic techniques (NTG).
