The traps make it possible to capture spores from fungal species that circulate in the air and, in particular, from different strains of the fungus <em>Colletotrichum<\/em>, This is responsible for causing gafa disease in Olival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The aim is to identify some important characteristics of this pathogen, such as virulence and resistance to fungicides or pesticides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In total, the spore traps were installed in eight olive groves in the Alentejo (Alto, Central and Baixo), a region that is the main producer of this crop at a national level, and where the fungus <em>Colletotrichum<\/em> has had a particular impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The team will take samples every two weeks for three months a year during the olive tree's productive cycle. Regular monitoring of the diversity of fungal species circulating in the olive groves will also make it possible to detect the appearance of new pathogenic fungi. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"11434\" src=\"https:\/\/easb4aajaue.exactdn.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/IMG_5656-edited-scaled.jpeg?strip=all&w=800\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11434\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"11436\" src=\"https:\/\/easb4aajaue.exactdn.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/IMG_5676-edited-scaled.jpeg?strip=all&w=800\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11436\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"11428\" src=\"https:\/\/easb4aajaue.exactdn.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/20230908_130250-1024x767.jpg?strip=all&resize=800%2C599\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11428\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AlViGen, coordinated by InnovPlantProtect (InPP) in partnership with the University of \u00c9vora (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uevora.pt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">WOW<\/a>), was one of the innovative pilot projects selected last October and funded by the <a href=\"https:\/\/fundacaolacaixa.pt\/pt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">La Caixa Foundation<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bancobpi.pt\/particulares\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">BPI Bank<\/a> and the Foundation for Science and Technology (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fct.pt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">FCT<\/a>), as part of the 4th edition of the <a href=\"https:\/\/fundacaolacaixa.pt\/pt\/concurso-promove\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Promove Program<\/a>.
