InnovPlantProtect subscribes to FAO’s strategy for more sustainable agri-food systems

Better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and a better life, leaving no one behind: InnovPlantProtect (InPP) supports and shares FAO‘s “four betters” principle, achievable through the transformation to more efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable agri-food systems, in the scope of the FAO Strategic Framework 2022-31 and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

With the “four betters”, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations aims to contribute to the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) agenda, namely SDGs #1 (No poverty), #2 (Zero hunger), and #10 (Reduced inequalities). InPP is committed to this vision, through its focus on the development of bio-inspired solutions for crop protection against pests and diseases.

The interconnection between the economic, social and environmental dimensions of agri-food systems is reflected in the “four betters”, encouraging a strategic and systems-oriented approach. “Better production” refers to efficient and inclusive agri-food supply chains at local, regional and global levels, ensuring resilience and sustainability in a changing climate and environment, towards more sustainable consumption and production patterns.

“Better nutrition” represents the goals of ending hunger, achieving food safety, promoting nutritious food, and increasing access to healthy diets. On the other hand, more efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable agri-food systems should also contribute to a “better environment”, by protecting, restoring and promoting the sustainable use of terrestrial and marine ecosystems, and fighting climate change.

Last not not least, by reducing inequalities (urban/rural areas, rich/poor countries, men/women), FAO hopes we can promote inclusive economic growth and a “better life” for all, leaving no one behind.
