“AI applied to a prediction and early detection system for Phytophthora cinnamomi in oak forest ecosystems” is the name of one of the projects that won the 2020 edition of Programa Promove and which brings together InnovPlantProtect (InPP), Instituto Nacional de Investigação Agrária e Veterinária (INIAV), Centro de Investigaciones Científicas y Tecnológicas de Extremadura (CICYTEX), ACPA – Associação de Criadores de Porco Alentejano and Aflosor – Associação Agro-Florestal da Região de Ponte de Sor. Now it is possible to get to know this collaborative initiative, which has its own webpage within InPP’s site.
With three areas of study, two in Portugal (Avis and Ourique concelhos) and one in Spain (Alcuescar), the global goal is to apply monitoring and alert systems in large forest areas, using robotic digital technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) in large scale.
This project is financed in the scope of Promove – The Future of the Hinterland, a program from Fundação “la Caixa” launched in partnership with BPI and Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, with the aim of supporting innovative initiatives in strategic domains for the development of Portugal’s hinterland regions.
